Diseases and Therapeutic Strategies
Abnormal phase separation led to defected biological functions, inappropriate protein aggregates and is related to numerous diseases. So how to manipulate protein as condensates, not as a single particle, might represent a new paradigm in the development of biomedicine. However, our current comprehension of phase separation remains rudimentary, particularly in the context of aging and neurodegeneration. Therefore, we are working to elucidate the mechanisms underlying the assembly or disassembly of these molecules, aiming to shift away from traditional approaches and explore innovative means to perturb phase separation.
By enhancing our understanding of phase separation processes and developing strategies to modulate them, we aspire to revolutionize therapeutic interventions in a manner that transcends conventional paradigms.
